Vol. 546 No. 1

Written Answers. - Legal Aid Service.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

166 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the income limit for qualification for free legal aid; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31331/01]

I can inform the Deputy that the limits for "disposable" income and "disposable" capital resources for the purpose of determining eligibility for services under the Civil Legal Aid Act, 1995, are currently set at £7,350 and £200,000 respectively. I can further inform the Deputy that my Department is currently in the process of preparing the necessary statutory instrument to update these limits.
