Vol. 546 No. 1

Written Answers. - Roads Funding.

Brendan Smith

Question:

60 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will increase the non-national roads allocations to Cavan County Council for 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31153/01]

Cavan County Council's non-national road grant allocation has increased from £7.146 million – 9.074 million – in 1997 to £10.888 million – 13.825 million – in 2001 – an increase of 52.36%. The 2001 allocation represents an 8% increase on the 2000 payment figure of £10,107,224 – 12,833,527.

I will be announcing the 2002 non-national road grant allocations early next year and my objective will be to resource all local authorities appropriately in relation to their ongoing.
