Vol. 546 No. 1

Written Answers. - Accident and Emergency Services.

Pat Carey

Question:

99 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of ambulances which were available for on call services in the Northern Area Health Board region on 20 November 2001; and the reason a person (details supplied) in County Dublin had to engage a private ambulance to take a person to hospital. [31185/01]

Responsibility for the provision of ambulance services for the eastern region, which includes the functional area of the Northern Area Health Board, rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore, asked the regional chief executive officer of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply to him directly.
