Vol. 546 No. 3

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Michael Creed

Question:

358 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding the provision of a school for autistic children (details supplied) in County Cork. [31367/01]

The issue raised by the Deputy has been the subject of detailed discussions between officials of my Department and representatives of the organisation in question. Arising from these discussions a formal proposal for the development of a pre-school facility for children with autism has been made to my Department in recent days. The proposal in question is due to be discussed further during the course of this week with a view to having the service in question in place at the earliest possible date.
