Vol. 546 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

374 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Education and Science when he proposes to make grant aid available for the proposed new extension and refurbishment of the Holy Rosary College, Mountbellew, County Galway; the stage the application is at; and if grant aid will be made available in 2002. [31471/01]

My Department recently received the stage 1 submission – site suitability, briefing and site report – from the board of management of the school to which the Deputy refers. This is currently being analysed.

A planning and briefing meeting is being arranged by my Department for mid-January to discuss the submission for the proposed new extension and refurbishment. At this stage it is not possible to say when the project will go on site as it is still at a very early stage of architectural planning.

Alan Shatter

Question:

375 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will provide the funding required to the new Knocklyon post primary school to have the open sewer and ditch running alongside the school's playing field and adjacent to the school building culverted and covered in. [31473/01]

My Department is currently involved in discussions with South Dublin County Council and the school in question in an effort to resolve this matter.
