Vol. 546 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Michael Ring

Question:

394 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding the proposed sports hall for a school (details supplied) in County Mayo; and when the project will go out for tender. [31574/01]

The building unit of my Department is awaiting confirmation from the management authorities of both the second level schools in the area and County Mayo VEC that they are in agreement to the proposal to provide a sports hall of 608 square metres for the school to which the Deputy refers. Until such agreement is reached and a suitable site is acquired by the VEC, the building unit cannot approve the appointment of a design team to commence architectural planning on the project. Accordingly, the question of when the project will go to tender does not arise at this point.
