Question:

396 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will accept a tender for the provision of permanent classrooms for the north Kildare national school project, Celbridge, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31576/01]

My Department has received a tender report in relation to the north Kildare national school project and this is being examined. A decision on the matter will be conveyed to the school authorities shortly.

397 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will invite tenders for the required extension to the Salesian College, Celbridge, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31577/01]

The school authorities of the Salesian College, Celbridge, County Kildare have recently submitted an application for refurbishment works and possible extra accommodation and this is currently being examined within my Department.

My Department's planning section has been asked for the long-term pupil enrolment figure and the school's accommodation requirements will be examined in the light of this figure.

398 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Education and Science the additional permanent facilities which will be provided at Scoil na Mainistreach, Celbridge, County Kildare; when tenders will be invited for the required works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31578/01]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that architectural planning is under way for a building project at Scoil na Mainistreach, Celbridge. It is not possible at this stage to say exactly when the project will go on site.

403 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will approve the developed sketch scheme in relation to the required extension to Maynooth post primary school, Maynooth, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31583/01]

The stage 3 – developed sketch scheme – submission is currently being examined within my Department's post primary building unit. Once this stage is approved the project will progress to stage 4.

404 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Education and Science if the contract has been signed for the required extension to Scoil Dara secondary school, Kilcock, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31584/01]

The stage 6 – tender action and report – in respect of the proposed extra facilities at Scoil Dara, Kilcock, County Kildare has been examined within my Department.

My Department's post primary building unit has indicated to the school authorities that consideration is being given to formally approving the tender recommended for acceptance by their design team. This approval, however, is subject to confirmation that the contractor can meet the standard contractual requirements, including, for example, evidence of tax clearance and membership of CIF. Confirmation of these items is awaited before the formal approval to the placing of the contract can issue.
