Vol. 546 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hospital Admissions.

Liam Aylward

Question:

92 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 356 of 12 June 2001, arrangements can be made to have a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny admitted for surgery at an early date. [32026/01]

My Department has made enquiries in relation to this case and I understand that the person in question has an out-patient appointment at Our Lady's Hospital, Crumlin on 18 December 2001. I also understand that this patient is on the waiting list for admission to Our Lady's Hospital. Responsibility for the provision of services at Our Lady's Hospital, Crumlin rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer at the authority to look into this matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.

Further to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 356 of 12 June 2001, I wish to inform the Deputy that the Eastern Regional Health Authority expects to be in a position to report to my Department and to Comhairle na nOspidéal before the end of the year in relation to the resolution of the matters surrounding the structure and sessional commitment attaching to specialist paediatric surgery posts in the three Dublin paediatric hospitals.
