Vol. 546 No. 5

Written Answers. - Department Website.

Question:

104 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Defence the number of hits received by his Department's website in 2001; the number of staff assigned to maintain the website; the cost of maintaining the website for 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [32469/01]

The Department of Defence website was hosted on the irlgov central server for 2001. All hits are counted in aggregate and there are no separate records for individual Departments. Staff and financial resources required for upkeep are negligible and are incorporated into the normal information technology maintenance routines for all systems. Within the last month, the newly-designed Department of Defence and Civil Defence websites were launched, representing further progress in the e-government agenda and providing a greater focus on customer service through interactive capability.
