Question:

116 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the projects in the national development plan for which funding has been provided as part of the 2002 Abridged Estimates or announced in the Budget Statement; the level of funding provided; the nature of the works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [32363/01]

In the case of my Department, the 2002 Abridged Estimates provide for 669.9 million, £527.6 million, in expenditure under the national development plan. This provision relates to the various agricultural, food and related rural development measures as follows: 545.8 million, £429.8 million, for the rural environment protection, compensatory allowances, and early retirement schemes contained in the CAP rural development plan; 106.5 million, £83.9 million, for the on-farm investment, research, training, advisory and general rural development initiatives contained in various operational programmes; 17.6 million, £13.9 million, for the food-related capital investment, research and marketing initiatives contained in the productive sector operational programme.
