Vol. 546 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

117 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will review the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare regarding the refusal of beef, heifer and cow premia; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [32405/01]

The person named submitted applications in May and September under the special beef premium scheme for 2001. Advance payment on the May application in respect of seven animals was paid on 14 November 2001.

In respect of the September application, one of the 14 animals applied on did not qualify for a premium payment because it was less than seven months on the date of application. Premium had previously been paid to the person named in respect of a second animal on the September application. Advance payment on the remaining 12 animals has issued this week to the person named.
His 2001 suckler cow premium application is being processed initially for payment based on 88 animals, and it is expected that payment of the 80% advance on this basis will issue shortly. At balance payment stage, any further proven entitlement will be paid.

Michael Ring

Question:

118 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive a suckler cow payment. [32303/01]

The person named applied for a premium for four cows under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. In processing the application for payment, further checks were required regarding the breed of animal tag number PPA507061. As this matter is not resolved, the case will now be processed for payment for three animals. Payment will issue shortly. At balance payment stage, his entitlement will be calculated on the basis of four animals, provided the valid breed for the aforementioned animal is established and is acceptable under the scheme.

Michael Ring

Question:

119 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive an area based payment. [32304/01]

The 2001 area aid application for the person named has been processed fully and payment due under the 2001 area based compensatory allowance scheme will issue later this week.

Michael Ring

Question:

120 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive an area based payment. [32305/01]

A herd owner must submit a valid area aid application for the relevant year in order to be considered for payment under the disadvantaged areas compensatory allowance scheme. As no area aid application was received from the person named for 2001, no disadvantaged areas compensatory allowance scheme payment can be made for 2001.
