Vol. 546 No. 5

Written Answers. - Departmental Website.

Question:

136 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Finance the number of hits received by his Department's website for the year 2001; the number of staff assigned to maintain the website; the cost of maintaining the website for 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [32471/01]

Based on statistics available, the number of hits on the Department's website, to end of October 2001, was in the region of 12.4 million. The website is maintained on a day-to-day basis by personnel in the press office, with technical support provided by staff in the Centre for Management and Organisational Development which is also part of the Department of Finance. CMOD has responsibility for the Government server and provides technical support for all Government websites hosted on the server. It is not possible to calculate the exact cost of maintaining the website for 2001, as personnel in the press office and CMOD work on the website as part of their duties. To date in 2001, no costs have been incurred for external services or consultancies in relation to the Department of Finance website.
