Vol. 546 No. 5

Written Answers. - Voluntary Organisations.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

144 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the request for funding made by Kildare Youth Services, Naas, County Kildare; if he will support the application; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [32180/01]

Funding for voluntary and community organisations is mainly provided through the health boards. Organisations may apply directly to their local health board for funding or alternatively they may apply to my Department for lottery funding. There is no record in my Department of an application for funding from the Kildare Youth Services for the project referred to by the Deputy. I have asked the regional chief executive of the Eastern Regional Health Authority to ascertain whether an application for funding has been received by the Eastern Regional Health Authority or the relevant area health board and to reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
