Vol. 546 No. 5

Written Answers. - Home Help Service.

Michael Ring

Question:

155 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo is not receiving home help. [32235/01]

The provision of health services in the Mayo area is the responsibility, in the first instance, of the Western Health Board. My Department has made inquiries with the chief executive officer of the board regarding the matter raised and is informed that the applicant in question has been offered home help service, an offer that she has declined. The offer of home help service is still open to the applicant should she wish to avail of it. The board states that its policy is not to engage family members or relatives as paid home helps.
