207 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the number of civil servants in his Department on transfer lists to sections of his Department out of Dublin; the locations and numbers involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [32315/01]
In relation to grades represented by the Civil and Public Service Union, clerical officer and staff officer, transfer lists are maintained by the Department for 48 separate locations outside Dublin in accordance with centrally agreed arrangements. These lists include names of civil servants in the grades concerned from all Government Departments or offices who wish to move laterally from one location to another. Based on the most recent information, the overall number on these transfer lists is in the region of 7,500. It should be noted, however, that it would not be unusual for the same person to be on transfer lists for a number of locations and to have made applications to other Government offices with offices in the provinces.
Details of locations involved and numbers in the grades concerned seeking to transfer to these locations are set out in the following table.
On foot of new centrally agreed arrangements for the clerical officer grade, transfer lists for the grade are being updated at the present time and it is expected that this process will be completed early in the new year.
