Vol. 546 No. 5

Written Answers. - Garda Operations.

Willie Penrose

Question:

37 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the steps being taken by the Garda to deal with the continuing threat posed by the organisation known as the Real IRA; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [32094/01]

The Garda Síochána monitors the activities of members of unlawful organisations on an ongoing basis. The threat posed by such organisations is continually analysed and intelligence-driven operations are planned to counter the threat. During the past 12 months, the Garda Síochána has had many success against such organisations resulting in seizures of weaponry and the apprehension of culprits.
