Vol. 547 No. 2

Written Answers. - Consultant Appointments.

Michael Finucane

Question:

116 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Health and Children when a consultant rheumatologist will be provided by the Mid-Western Health Board; and the reason for the delay in the appointment. [3097/02]

The question of appointing an additional consultant rheumatologist is a matter in the first instance for the Mid-Western Health Board in the context of the funding available to the board for acute hospital service developments, the competing priorities and its service plan for 2002.

My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to reply to the Deputy directly concerning the issue raised.
