Vol. 547 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

133 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the amount of payments made to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo for destocking under the cull ewe scheme since its introduction; and the reason the last payment was reduced. [2977/02]

The person referred to received a total of £539 or €689.47 for 1999, £509 or €646.30 for 2000 and £210 or €266.64 for 2001.

The reason the payment for last year is lower than in previous years is that my Department only paid for loss of premium and loss of profit in 2001. Compensation for loss of headage did not apply in 2001 as headage is now an area based payment.
