Vol. 547 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Appointments.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

145 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science when an inspector will be appointed (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2916/02]

School inspectors are not assigned permanently to specific areas. Responsibility within the inspectorate for each recognised school, primary-second level-special here, including each school in County Donegal, is assigned to a named inspector or a divisional-senior inspector. All of whom are members of a regional business unit within the inspectorate.

Competitions for the appointment of district inspectors in my Department are held from time to time under the auspices of the Civil Service Commission. The most recent competition for the appointment of district inspectors was held immediately before Christmas 2001. Specific regions were specified to which successful applicants would be assigned. County Donegal was included among these regions.
