My Department provides funding for the boards of management of primary schools so that they may engage suitable persons to act as escorts on special school transport. The boards of management of the schools participating in the scheme are responsible for the recruitment process and the conditions of service of escorts, including the question of a post being full time. Specific questions concerning conditions of service should be directed to the relevant board of management.
