Vol. 547 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Recognition.

Austin Deasy

Question:

49 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will grant departmental recognition to a Gael Coláiste (details supplied) in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2848/02]

An application has been received in the planning and building unit of my Department for the recognition of an all-Irish unit at the post- primary school referred to by the Deputy. In processing such an application, my Department must consider matters such as potential enrolments, accommodation requirements and existing similar provision in the area. A decision on the application will be taken and the school management authorities will be advised of the outcome as soon as possible.
