Vol. 547 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

John Perry

Question:

90 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance if a transfer will be granted to a person (details supplied); when the transfer will be implemented; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2968/02]

The person in question is a candidate at an open clerical officer competition held recently by the Civil Service Commission. The Civil Service Commission has not as yet been in a position to offer him an assignment.

Any assignment made by the Civil Service Commission from this competition would be to Dublin rather than to a provincial location, such as Sligo. In order to seek a position in, for instance, Sligo, the candidate, if and when he is appointed to the Civil Service, may have his name entered on the appropriate transfer lists under the centrally agreed transfer scheme.

In accordance with the transfer arrangements applicable generally to the clerical officer grade, he would not be eligible for transfer until he has served for a minimum of one year in the location to which he is initially assigned.
