Vol. 547 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tax Reliefs.

Richard Bruton

Question:

92 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance the number of persons who benefit from the higher tax relief in the first five years of a mortgage afforded to first time buyers. [3033/02]

I am advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the projected total number of first time buyer claimants of mortgage interest relief is estimated at almost 119,000 for the income tax year 2002. This figure is provisional and subject to revision.
