Vol. 547 No. 2

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Michael Finucane

Question:

95 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Finance the status for a decentralised office for Newcastlewest, Kilrush and Listowel; and when this decentralisation will take place. [3089/02]

No decisions have yet been taken in relation to a new programme of decentralisation. However, the many issues associated with such a programme are continuing to receive full attention and in that regard I can confirm that consideration is being given to the many submissions received by my Department including that received on behalf of the towns of Newcastlewest, County Limerick; Kilrush, County Clare and Listowel, County Kerry. In view of my determination to ensure that decisions should be taken only after proper deliberation I am not in a position to state definitively when a Government decision on the issue could be expected.

Question No. 96 withdrawn.
