Question:

158 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the volume of oil and its cost in euro imported for each of the past ten years; the pro portion which this represents of the energy needs here; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3578/02]

Normally import and export statistics are a matter for the Central Statistics Office. In this case I am providing information in the context of net energy requirements. The source of this material is the Department's Annual Energy Balances. This source does not include cost information and the volumes are not reconciled with CSO data. I am therefore not in a position to provide cost information.

The net volumes of oil imported in the years 1991 to 2000 inclusive and the proportion that this represents of net energy requirements in the years concerned are outlined in the following tabular statement:
