Vol. 547 No. 3

Written Answers. - Rural Transport Initiative.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

167 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the position in relation to an application by organisations (details supplied) in County Donegal under the rural transport initiative; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3469/02]

The rural transport initiative, RTI, is being administered on behalf of my Department by Area Development Management, ADM.

On 21 January 2002 I announced the names of the successful applicants selected by ADM for pre-development RTI funding. In the case of County Donegal a joint application had been submitted on behalf of a number of community groups in respect of proposals from different parts of the county. The outcome of the ADM assessment process is that the proposals submitted by Páirtíocht Ghaeltacht Thír Chonaill Teo (Meitheal Forbartha na Gaeltachta) and South West Donegal Communities Ltd., were selected for funding. Regrettably, the other organisations mentioned by the Deputy were not successful.
