Question:

179 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 224 of 16 October 2001, all of the issues involved in this case have been resolved; if legal action is pending; if all goods, documents and other items taken during the investigation have now been returned; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3311/02]

The investigation into the person named is still continuing. In the circumstances some documents and other evidence seized continue to be withheld.

As the person concerned could not provide proof of identity or otherwise identify a number of animals in his possession the animals in question were, in accordance with EU and national legislation, slaughtered at his expense, without compensation.
