Vol. 547 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

180 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan will receive a premium payment on 38 animals; if an interest payment will be made on the overdue amount; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3382/02]

The person named submitted five applications for special beef premium in respect of 60 animals in 2001. The outstanding issues in relation to the person's herd details on the cattle movement monitoring system have now been resolved and payment will issue on the first four applications – 38 animals – during February. The December application in respect of 22 animals will be eligible for payment in March when the relevant retention period is completed. Under EU regulations payments under the 2001 livestock premia schemes must be completed by 30 June 2002.

The person named was paid slaughter premium advance payments in October and December 2001 on 31 animals slaughtered during the period 1 January to 30 September 2001. Slaughter premium on animals slaughtered/exported in the October to December period will also be paid during February.

Michael Ring

Question:

181 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive a REP scheme payment. [3384/02]

The application from the person named was returned to him on 4 October 2001 because it was not correct. It was resubmitted on 13 November 2001 and is being processed at present in accordance with the targets set out in the protocol on direct payments to farmers.

John McGuinness

Question:

182 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if an application by a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny for grant aid under the capital investment scheme for the marketing and processing of certain agricultural products has been processed; and if a final decision has been made on the application under this scheme. [3400/02]

The application in question is one of a substantial number received by my Department under the capital investment scheme for the marketing and processing of certain agricultural products. These applications are currently being assessed and evaluated and I hope to be in a position to approve awards under the scheme in the near future.
