Vol. 547 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Facilities.

John McGuinness

Question:

225 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has received an application for funding from the South-Eastern Health Board to provide a day room nursing station and a physiotherapy section at Castlecomer district hospital, County Kilkenny; and if he will consider allocating a further ?127,000 to complete the project. [3259/02]

Responsibility for the provision of health services in County Kilkenny rests with the chief executive officer of the South-Eastern Health Board. Under the National Development Plan 2001-2006, the South-Eastern Health Board was advised of indicative funding of €18.793 million or £14.801 million for capital investment in the development for services for older people. It is a matter for the board to decide its priority development projects within the national development plan. Accordingly, the question of proceeding with developments at Castlecomer district hospital will have to be considered by the board within the parameters of the national development plan.
