Question:

327 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the status of an application for naturalisation by a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3391/02]

An application for a certificate of naturalisation from the person referred to by the Deputy was received in my Department on 6 September, 2000. I understand that this application is due to be submitted to me for a decision in the very near future and I will inform the applicant and the Deputy as soon as I have reached a decision in the case.

328 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will reconsider an application for naturalisation and citizenship by a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3392/02]

An application for a certificate of naturalisation from the person referred to by the Deputy was received in my Department on 22 March 2001. A previous application by the person in question was refused in September 2000. I understand that the current application is due to be submitted to me for a decision in the very near future and I will inform the applicant and the Deputy as soon as I have reached a decision in the case.
