Vol. 547 No. 3

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

John McGuinness

Question:

330 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the documents which must accompany the passport of a person (details supplied) in County Carlow; if he will make the necessary arrangements to enable travel to be permitted in this case. [3397/02]

The person in question has been granted permission to remain in the State on the basis of his parentage of an Irish citizen child. In order to travel abroad he will have to satisfy the immigration requirements of the country he proposes to visit and the Deputy will appreciate that the Irish authorities have no role in this regard.

As a visa required national he will, however, require a visa in order to enter the State on his return from travel abroad. It is open to him to apply in advance of his departure from Ireland for a re-entry visa to the visa office of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Hainault House, 69-71 St. Stephen's Green, Dublin 2. That Department has a standard application form which should be accompanied by two passport size photographs, the appropriate fee, a valid passport and a valid Garda certificate of registration.
