Question:

162 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department operates term time; the number of persons who applied for this in 2000, 2001 and 2002; the number of persons who were accepted and availed themselves of the scheme; if persons were refused; if so, the reason therefor; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3894/02]

The term time scheme operated on a pilot basis in selected Departments in 1999 and 2000. This Department was not part of the pilot scheme and consequently we did not operate the scheme in 2000. In relation to 2001 and 2002 the information is set out as follows:
