Vol. 547 No. 4

Written Answers. - Transport Logistics.

Derek McDowell

Question:

44 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he has received final reports from the task force on transport logistics in regard to reducing container traffic from Dublin Port through the Dublin city centre, which he informed Dáil Éireann was expected by the end of December 2001; if he intends to publish the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3497/02]

I can confirm that the task force on transport logistics in connection with ports has completed its deliberations and will formally present its report to me very shortly.

I understand the report will address, inter alia, issues which would impact on container traffic from Dublin Port, including the potential to transfer non-essential activities, such as fuel storage and empty containers, out of the port to a more peripheral location.

I can also confirm that it is my intention to publish the report.
