Vol. 547 No. 4

Written Answers. - Foreshore Licences.

Ivor Callely

Question:

66 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the average processing time for applications to his Department for permission to reclaim under section 10 of the Foreshore Act, 1933; the application which was the longest in process; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3600/02]

There is no statutory time limit for the processing of applications under the Foreshore Act, 1933. The amount of time taken in any case will depend on the nature and extent of works, the quality of the application and whether any environmental impact statement required to accompany the application meets statutory requirements, the level and quality of public submissions made, if any, and the volume and complexity of other applications on hands under the Foreshore Acts, for leases, licences or permissions. I could not justify going back over the records of 70 years to establish how long it took to process cases and the average processing time.
