Vol. 547 No. 4

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Billy Timmins

Question:

87 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if his Department operates term time; the number of persons who applied for this in 2000, 2001 and 2002; the number of persons who were accepted and availed themselves of the scheme; if persons were refused; if so, the reason therefor; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3887/02]

In 2001, the first year of operation of the term time scheme in my Department, three officers applied for and were granted special term time leave. This year, 13 applications for term time have been received and all have been approved. My Department is committed to promoting this scheme, which is specifically aimed at helping staff to balance their family and work commitments.
