Vol. 547 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

125 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a suckler cow grant payment has not been made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3875/02]

The person named applied for premium for 16 animals under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. An 80% advance payment for €2,308.88 issued on 17 December 2001. This payment was in respect of 14 animals. One animal was deleted from the application as an innocent error and another animal tag number GAB268171 was not processed at the time for payment because of an unresolved query. According to CMMS records, this animal is not on the herd profile of the applicant and there is no record of movement into his herd. The applicant is aware of the problem regarding this animal and the district livestock office of my Department has issued a letter to him advising him that this matter must be resolved in order to have the application processed for balance payment.
