Vol. 547 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Ellis

Question:

127 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if a premium payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim. [3903/02]

A herdowner must submit a valid area aid application for the relevant year in order to be considered for payment of disadvantaged areas compensatory allowance scheme. As no area aid application was received from the person named for the year 2001, no disadvantaged areas compensatory allowance scheme payment can be made for 2001. There is no record that the person named applied for premium under any other scheme.

Question:

128 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if a suckler cow payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim. [3904/02]

The person named applied for premium for 19 animals under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme on 29 June 2001. In processing the application for payment it was discovered that two animals were slaughtered on 13 December 2001. This was prior to the retention expiry date of 30 December 2001. The district livestock office of my Department recently wrote to the herdowner advising him that as he holds a suckler cow quota of 18 it is necessary for him to furnish details of at least one suitable replacement animal in order to avoid a shortfall reduction penalty being applied to his application. The case will be processed further on receipt of his reply.

Michael Ring

Question:

129 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive a REP scheme payment. [3933/02]

The application from the person named was returned to him on 20 December 2001 because it was not correct. It was resubmitted on 9 January 2002 and is being processed at present in accordance with the targets set out in the protocol on direct payments to farmers.
