Question:

90 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Defence the amount of money paid by way of a sea-going allowance to Naval personnel in 1999, 2000 and 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4070/02]

Patrol duty allowance is payable to personnel of the Naval Service serving aboard ship on patrol duty away from the naval base, Haulbowline. The allowance is payable from the time a ship commences sailing orders to the time it completes sailing orders and the current daily rate for all ranks is €40.68, £32.04.
