Vol. 548 No. 2

Written Answers. - Bovine Disease Controls.

John Bruton

Question:

185 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the position regarding a herd number for a person (details supplied) in County Meath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4615/02]

During a herd test conducted on the herd of the person in question in October 2001, two calves had to be tagged for identification purposes with brass tags by the veterinary practitioner as the animals were not plastic tagged by the keeper as required by law. Until the animals are properly identified with plastic tags and registered with the national bovine registration agency, the passports required cannot be issued. The herdowner should contact his DVO to progress the matter.

John Perry

Question:

186 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the progress made on an area aid appeal by a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4634/02]

The herdowner lodged an appeal on 7 January 2002 concerning his 2001 area aid application. Appeals require individual examination and are dealt with in the order in which they are received. This appeal will be examined in due course and the herdowner will be notified of the outcome.
