224 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will provide an update in relation to the project team's report on the infrastructural requirements in respect of hospital facilities for Athlone, County Westmeath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4176/02]
My Department conveyed approval in July 2000 to the Midland Health Board to establish a project team to examine the provision of a health service infrastructure in Athlone. I understand work on the preparation of a brief for the project is being progressed at present. My Department is in discussion with the Midland Health Board concerning the appointment of an architect to undertake an option appraisal of the project team's draft proposals.
