Vol. 548 No. 2

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Brian Hayes

Question:

235 Mr. B. Hayes asked the Minister for Health and Children if there are day care facilities for younger stroke victims in the new Tallaght Hospital; his plans to provide funding for an expansion of the existing service in Tallaght to cater for the greater needs of Wicklow, Kildare and Tallaght in respect of providing rehabilitation for younger stroke victims; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4344/02]

Services for eligible patients at Tallaght Hospital are provided under an arrangement with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore, asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

236 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the fact that there is no place in the public health care system to adequately care for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that the nursing home that cares for this person has an outstanding request of two weeks that this person be transferred to a more appropriate facility; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that funding from his Department to the Northern Area Health Board would allow the purchase of a place in the new Alzheimer's care facility at Highfield, Swords Road, Whitehall; if he will provide such funding as a matter of urgency; his plans in relation to funding public places at this centre; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4345/02]

Responsibility for the provision of health services in Dublin rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply to her directly.
