Vol. 548 No. 2

Written Answers. - Child Support.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

337 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs if his attention has been drawn to the fact that a person (details supplied) in County Wexford has not received child benefit in respect of her daughter since June 2001; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that a payments book issued some time ago by his Department was not received and that the person has provided all documentation requested in relation to the claim; if he will ensure that this person receives full entitlement without further delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4603/02]

Child benefit is in payment to the person concerned in respect of the child referred to and payments have been cashed up to and including February 2002. Payment of child benefit in respect of her other daughter ceased in June 2001 when the daughter reached 16 years of age. A claim form to extend child benefit beyond the age of 16 issued in respect of this child, but was not returned. A further copy has now issued and, when completed and returned, the claim will be processed and any arrears due will be paid to the person concerned.
