Vol. 548 No. 2

Written Answers. - Sports Capital Programme.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

382 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the number of applications his Department received from Coun ties Sligo and Leitrim, under the 2002 sports capital programme grant scheme; and the amount applied for by each applicant. [4100/02]

The sports capital programme for 2002 was advertised on 25 and 26 November 2001 with a closing date of 4 January 2002 for the receipt of completed applications. In excess of 1,300 applications were received before the closing date, including 20 from organisations in County Leitrim and 30 from organisations in County Sligo. The names of these organisations and the amount of funding which each requested is contained in the following schedule.

All applications under the programme are currently being evaluated against its assessment criteria, which are outlined in the guidelines, terms and conditions of the programme. I intend to announce the grant allocations for the programme as soon as possible after the assessment process has been completed.
