Question:

390 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Education and Science his Department's legislative programme for the first half of 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4086/02]

The Bills pertaining to my Department which are before the Oireachtas, are the Arramara Teoranta (Acquisition of Shares) Bill, 2001, Law of the Sea (Repression of Piracy) Bill, 2001, the Dumping at Sea (Amendment) Bill, 2000, and the Sea Pollution (Hazardous and Noxious Substances) (Civil Liability and Compensation) Bill, 2000.

A Bill relating to the Foyle Carlingford and Irish Lights Commission is being drafted by the Office of the Parliamentary Counsel. Work is in progress in my Department on proposals for amendments of the Fishery Harbours Centres Acts, the Forestry Acts, the Minerals Development Acts, Oil Pollution at Sea (Civil Liability and Compensation) Acts and the Sea Pollution Acts, and on legislative proposals in relation to Coastal Zone Management and the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Maritime Navigation and Offshore Fixed Platforms.
