Question:

107 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the reason Bord Iascaigh Mhara did not use the FORUM structure to circulate information on the shellfish remedial package to co-op members. [4325/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 103 to 107, inclusive, together.

The criteria for the shellfish remedial package 2001 were drawn up by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara and were approved by the Department. BIM was responsible for the administration of the scheme including publicising the scheme, the application process and the assessment of applications received. All payments made by BIM are governed by strict regulation and subject to independent audit by the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General. I have requested BIM to reply to the Deputy directly in regard to the matters raised.
