Vol. 548 No. 2

Written Answers. - Salmon Conservation Measures.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

108 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 147 of 5 February 2002, he will outline the different methods of policing the conservation measures for salmon in each of the fisheries board areas; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4335/02]

The regional fisheries boards are statutorily responsible for the protection of fisheries and the enforcement generally of the Fisheries Acts within their respective regions. The Central Fisheries Board has an overall co-ordinating role to ensure that resources are deployed efficiently and effectively. Accordingly, I am asking the Central Fisheries Board to communicate directly with the Deputy in relation to the information sought.

Question No. 109 answered with Question No. 96.
