Vol. 548 No. 3

Written Answers. - Psychological Service.

Willie Penrose

Question:

206 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science if an educational assessment for a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath will be carried out; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4940/02]

The school attended by the person does not yet have access to the full service provided by the national educational psychological service agency NEPS. The school principal may therefore avail, on behalf of the student, of the scheme for commissioning psychological assessments which I announced last June. It allows schools that do not yet have access to the NEPS service to commission psychological assessments from private practitioners.

Full details of the scheme were issued to all schools and are also available from my Department's website.
