155 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Health and Children the estimated number of asthma sufferers in the Western Health Board area in 1998, 2000 and 2001; if the incidence of asthma is above average for the country; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4862/02]
As asthma is not a notifiable disease, there are no precise statistics available on the number of people with the condition in Ireland. Information regarding the number of persons suffering from asthma in the Western Health Board area in 1998, 2000 and 2001 is not routinely collected by my Department.
