Vol. 548 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

156 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding the Alzheimer's unit for Carndonagh District Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4863/02]

The provision of health services in the Donegal area is, in the first instance, the responsibility of the North-Western Health Board. My Department has made inquiries of the board concerning the issue raised and has been advised that revised plans have been submitted to Donegal County Council. A number of adjustments to the original plan were requested and these have been completed and returned to the county council whose decision on the application is awaited. On completion of the planning process it is intended to progress this development in line with resources available to the board.

Question:

157 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Health and Children the investments which have been made in Letterkenny General Hospital in each of the years 1995 to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4864/02]

Responsibility for the provision of services at Letterkenny General Hospital rests with the North-Western Health Board and the question of investment in services at the hospital is a matter for the board in the first instance. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the board to collate the information the Deputy requires and to forward it to her directly.
