Written Answers. - Defence Forces Strength.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

124 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Defence if personnel have been transferred from the Army barracks at Monaghan to Dundalk; if this is a first step in winding down numbers of personnel at Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5576/02]

There are no plans to reduce the number of personnel at Monaghan Barracks. However, the military authorities advise that ten personnel have recently been re-located from Monaghan to Dundalk at their own request. These personnel will be replaced at Monaghan by new recruits at present undergoing recruit training.
